Female-only app Giggle for Girls has appealed a ruling that found it discriminated against a trans woman by barring her from the app.

In a test of Julia Gillard-era amendments to the Sex Discrimination Act guarding against discrimination on the basis of gender identity, the Federal Court has ruled that a trans-exclusionary social media app, Giggle for Girls, was unlawfully discriminatory.

A class action has argued Medibank cannot claim legal professional privilege over three Deloitte reports after disclosing them to reassure the market and customers after a massive 2022 data breach.

A judge has approved a settlement in a shareholder class action against livestock exporter Wellard that grants a 34 per cent cut for group members, saying that investors had agreed to the lawyers and funder receiving the “lion’s share”.
