A judge has restrained Health Services Union secretary Diana Asmar from using union cash to fund her defence against allegations of illegitimate reimbursements at the union’s Victorian branch.
Two former staffers of senator Jacqui Lambie who represented themselves in an unsuccessful unfair dismissal case have been hit with nearly $50,000 in legal costs each due to their “unreasonable conduct” in the case, including attempts to turn the proceeding into “a trial by media.”
A judge has dismissed an application by Domino’s Pizza to strike out the pleadings in a class action accusing the pizza giant of making misleading and deceptive representations to franchisees which caused drivers to be underpaid.
Domino’s is seeking to strike out portions of the “rolled up, confusing pleading” in a class action over alleged worker underpayments, saying the case cannot be brought under the consumer law.
