Marlow Foods, maker of popular meat-replacement product Quorn, has lost an application to patent a vegan burger that contains a non-egg binding agent, with IP Australia saying the recipe lacked inventiveness.

British child safety product manufacturer Britax has lost its opposition to an Australian competitor’s patent for a lightweight child booster seat, after contradicting inventiveness claims made in its own application for a similar product.

The Australian Patent Office has shot down a patent application covering throat lozenges by consumer goods giant Reckitt-Benckiser on a challenge by rival Sanofi-Aventis.
